Successful exhibitors know that there is a lot involved with an event of any size. If you are planning to exhibit at a trade show overseas, be prepared for even more challenges, such as converting measurements from meters to feet, translating languages into English, understanding local cultures and incurring international shipping costs.

Exhibiting in the USA introduces many new challenges for companies and requires thorough research to determine which ones will attract your target market.

Here are some tips for successful trade show exhibiting in the USA:
1.) Hire a translator. The most important step for your success is to hire an expert (preferably native- born) translator who not only understands the English but also the culture of the USA and its people. This person will prove instrumental in helping fine-tune your company’s marketing message, slogans and marketing collateral to assure that your message is effectively delivered to this new audience.

2.) Hire a local designer & exhibit provider. It is a good idea to hire a Skyline designer who understands how the USA market will interpret your colors, design, symbols, logo, and look of your exhibit. For example, one color might be considered lucky or prosperous in one country, yet might symbolize something completely different in another.

Also, by hiring Skyline as your exhibit provider to build or rent your booth in the USA, you will eliminate shipping and save a lot of money for you.

3.) Check on technical and safely standards. When exhibiting in the USA, your electrical equipment will need to be adapted to different
power voltage outlets. There are exhibit height limitations and other restrictions that are different from other countries.

4.) Culture. Things are done differently in other countries. Be sensitive to how business is conducted and how decisions are made in the host country. Read up on proper business etiquette, how the sales process typically works, and the nuances of relationship building there.
